Spring 2017 Trend Spotlight

March 31, 2017

Spring is in full effect and even though it may not feel like it yet, now is the time to give that wardrobe the refresh it needs and dive-in head first to some of the seasons most fabulous and wearable fashion trends.
My Favorite Trends for Spring:
Shoulder Statements
The off the shoulder trend is still going super strong this season. I for one am thrilled with this because this trend has taken over my closet. The off shoulder tops this season have a more modern feel, and come in a variety of cuts and shapes. I really like the asymetrical, one shoulder tops especially when paired with some dangling statement earrings. That right there is the perfect night out outfit for spring 2017.

Modern Ruffles
A fresh way to incorporate ruffles into your wardrobe is to look for a deconstructed style that doesn't seem too frilly. Pair something from the selection below with some sporty elements such as a fresh pair of white kicks for a fashion-forward look.

Bold White Accessories
This one is a clumsy girl’s nightmare……. White shoes and a white bag? Not for long! Anyways, I’ve been seeing this bright white trend all over the place and it certainly adds an element of surprise to a look. Whether it be bright white platforms, booties, a cross body bag, or a bold white necklace, this fresh hue is extremely versatile.

Structured Bags
The structured handbags this season serve as an anchor to a deconstructed, free-form look. It balances everything out. If you pair a ruffled/frilly top with a box shape constructed satchel, it will be the perfect balance.

Global Inspired Details
Think of a more polished, vibrant bohemian look. From pom poms to tassels, this season is all about exotic embellishments.

Amped Up Embroidery
This season there's a plethora of pieces enhanced by beautifully embroidered details. I personally love the embroidered army and denim jackets, it gives a whimsical feel to an otherwise "tough looking" article of clothing.

Dressed & Distressed Denim
If you're into the Canadian Tuxedo look, then this spring is your time to shine.  There's an infinite amount of ways to wear denim right now but I am absolutely loving the released hem jeans and all of the patchwork denim I've been seeing. But you don't have to limit yourself to just jeans this season, denim shoes and accessories have been popping up everywhere. Think Brittney Spears & JT circa 2001.

Shades of Pink
That’s right, the prayers of girly girls everywhere have been answered and pink—from neons and fuschias to dusty roses and muted blushes—is not only back, but it’s being declared the unofficial color of the year.

Gingham Style
I haven't found the right gingham piece yet to incorporate into my wardrobe but I have definitely come across quite a few styles online that I have been swooning over.  This pattern can be super cute but it's definitely something you need to try before you buy.  Check out some of my gingham favs below!

Mellow Yellow
Yellow is probably my favorite color to wear, especially this time of year. It's just such a happy color and it's also extremely versatile.  It pairs well with other vibrant colors and almost any pattern you can find.
