The Two Piece Set Your Fall Wardrobe is Longing For

October 18, 2016

This Matching Set is The Perfect Fall Combo

Matching sets or Coordinated Separates as some sites will refer to them are a great thing to have in your closet. Whether they combine a blouse and skirt or a top and pants, they are super cute and I think every girl should have at least one complete set in their wardrobe. These sets are truly effortless making them a dream come true for the lazy fashionista. Every girl draws a blank on occasion when it comes to putting together the perfect outfit for that Saturday night get together.  That is the best time to turn to a matching set to take the thought process out of getting ready.

The truth is, a stylish two-piece set is often hard to come by, which is why I was so excited when I came across this set from Free People.

This gorgeous printed two-piece set from FP is MAGICAL.  It comes in the color combo pictured above and also a beautiful ivory print but I chose the dark color combo for fall.  The set features an ultra flowy/femme silhouette in the perfect combination of velvet and silk fabrics.  The top features an open front with a center tie closure and peasant sleeves with drawstring ties at the cuffs. The back is slightly cropped but it offers just enough coverage in case you decide to wear it with some high rise jeans. The skirt has an adjustable tie that you're supposed to wear to the side but I wore it front and center because I found that to be the most flattering. It also has a fun/flirty asymmetrical shape to it that hugs perfectly in the hips.  When worn together, this set creates the most effortless look that can be dressed up or down.  I wore this set with some ankle booties to keep it on the casual side.  To dress this set up for a special occasion, just pair it with a good pump and you're ready to go.

The best part about this set, and the selling point for me was that each piece makes for a great stand-alone piece as well.  The skirt is extremely versatile and can be paired with a variety of tops to make for either a casual or dressy look.  The top offers the same versatility and can be worn with just about any bottom you can think of.  When I wore the top by itself, I wore some skivvies underneath, high rise black ripped jeans, and some tan suede ankle boots.  It was a fun Saturday night look and I got so many compliments on the blouse. People were very disappointed when I told them it was only sold as part of a set through Free People.

Below, I've linked some of my favorite two-piece sets that can be worn all together or as separates.
