Work Wear for the Warmer Weather

May 27, 2016

Happy  Friday & Memorial Day weekend!

Getting dressed for the office can be a real struggle in the summer time.  As the temps starting heating up, you find yourself asking the question, "is this work appropriate" more often than not.  I've definitely learned my lesson the hard way with this and if I even have to ask the question at this point then I typically steer clear.

The good thing about Summer clothes is that you can make your weekend wardrobe work for your 9-5 life if you do it the right way.  For example, a sundress paired with some wedges may be a little over the top (depending on the dress) but if you add a white blazer or cropped sweater over it, it will look very tasteful and well put together.  This applies to skirts, culottes, comfy white linen pants, etc.  Everything looks more professional when you throw a blazer on top and swap out your wedges for some low heel pumps.

I think the outfit pictured above is my favorite so far.  The A-line dress is flattering and the cut is just above the knee showing the right amount of leg and making it comfortable and office appropriate.  It also helps that I have a nice tan going thanks to Saint-Tropez, and no not the beach town, the self tanner from Sephora.  The chiffon long sleeves on this dress make it elegant looking and since the material is light and breezy, I never have to worry about getting too hot.  This dress didn't look right with flats so I wore these 1 inch flatform sandals and it really pulled it all together and gave the outfit a dressier feel.  I added the scarf around my neck because I wasn't wearing a necklace and I felt like it needed a little something up top.  It always makes me feel a little more classy adding the scarf so I figured why not.  Also, I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I left the house without that 3rd piece in there.Follow
